Embeddings
Embeddings are numeric vectors that represent text (or other media) so similar meanings are close in vector space.
How it works
An embedding model maps chunks to vectors stored in an index. Queries embed the same way; nearest neighbours become retrieval candidates. Domain language and chunk size dominate quality.
Example
Support articles are embedded so a vague customer phrase still retrieves the right how-to page.
